CVC-Annual Meeting 2026

Cardiovascular disease is the most common cause of death world-wide. It is also the leading cause of hospital admissions and of physical disability and a major cost burden in health care.

Diagnosis, treatment and research endeavors focusing on these disorders therefore require close collaboration across medical specialties. The Cardiovascular Cluster is a multidisciplinary research structure which aims to facilitate synergies between basic and clinical investigators that span the spectrum of cardiovascular research.

This year’s Annual Meeting of the Cardiovascular Cluster will be held on 30th of November in the Van Swieten Hall of the Medical University of Vienna.

We have been able to attract the following excellent external speakers, who will cover areas of both basic cardiovascular biology and clinical research:

Dunja Aksentijevic

(William Harvey Research Institute, Queen Mary University of London, UK)

Nikolaos Bonaros

(Cardiac Surgery, Medical University of Innsbruck, AT)

Minna Kaikkonen-Määttä

(University of Eastern Finland, FI)

Florian Kronenberg

(Medical University of Innsbruck, AT)

Elena Osto

(Division of Physiology and Pathophysiology, Medical University of Graz, AT)
